Sodexo's Stop Hunger Foundation
As the leading provider of Quality of Life Services, fighting hunger is the focus of our community service efforts. As part of Sodexo’s Better Tomorrow commitments, our Stop Hunger program mobilizes entire Sodexo communities, including employees, parents, students, administrators, teachers, other consumers and suppliers, who are joining forces to make a difference and end hunger.
Since 1996, our company has supported programs that provide hunger relief to those in need with a specific focus on children and families. In 1999, Sodexo created the non-profit Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation to extend our company's commitment to fighting hunger, with the mission of working to ensure that every child in the United States, especially those most at-risk, grows up with dependable access to enough nutritious food to enable them to lead a healthy, productive life. Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation helps support these organizations whose programs address hunger. The company-Sodexo USA-pays 100% of the administrative costs of the Foundation.
Locally, we focus on Food Recovery and Donations, Payroll Giving, Cause-related Partnerships, Community Gardens and the Backpack Program, to name a few. For example, in 2016-17, Sodexo’s Feeding Our Future, a Sodexo-created free nutritious summer meals program, provided 424,675 meals to hungry kids in 30 cities in North America alone. Company-wide, we had 82,000 employees in 41 cities who distributed 6 million meals and raised $6.3 million to fight hunger. Together, we are making a difference.
Sodexo’s Stop Hunger Foundation has also joined forces with the Generation No Kid Hungry, a national movement of young leaders dedicated to ending childhood hunger by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need, every day. To find out more about this program, please visit the online action center at Generation No Kid Hungry for ideas and resources for young people to engage in hunger-fighting activities in their communities.
